Dr. Abe E. Jeffers, Principal

Dr. Abe E. Jeffers earned his undergraduate degree in science education from the University of Tennessee, his Masters degree in education administration from the University of Virginia, and his Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. He has a daughter and a son and spends his free time with his wife and children playing games, watching movies, talking, or supporting them. His passion lies in fostering an environment where every student learns and thrives. Dr. Jeffers is dedicated to enhancing academic achievement, improving student support systems, and ensuring a safe, engaging learning space for all. Working hand-in-hand with the talented faculty, dedicated staff, engaged parents, and wonderful students at Manchester, we are building on our many strengths to achieve even greater success.

David Garrison, Assistant Principal

David Garrison earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Virginia Tech (2008) and earned a Master of Teaching in Social Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University (2011) and a Master of Education in Administration from the University of Virginia (2019). Mr. Garrison taught US History and was the Social Studies Department Chair at Midlothian High School prior to becoming an administrator at Manchester. Mr. Garrison grew up in the Manchester community and graduated from Manchester High School (Class of 2004). When he is not at school, Mr. Garrison enjoys spending time with his wife Lindsay, and their two children Eloise and Gus.

Amanda Lucker, Assistant Principal

Amanda Lucker earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Teaching in Social Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University (2015) and a Master of Education in Administration from the University of Virginia (2023). Ms. Lucker taught Social Studies as well as coached Volleyball and Softball at Cosby High School before becoming an Administrator at Manchester. When not at school, Ms. Lucker enjoys spending time outdoors with her wife Lindsey and their dog, Sokka.

Stuart Spangler, Assistant Principal

Stuart Spangler began his education career in Chesterfield at Meadowbrook High School, where he taught English, eventually earning a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. After serving as a dean of students at Meadowbrook, Stuart joined Manchester as an assistant principal. He is passionate about students and spreadsheets in no particular order and looks forward to dedicating his time and energy to both. At home, Mr. Spangler is a proud partner and father of two.

Christina Owens, Assistant Principal

Christina Owens was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She earned a degree in Environmental Science with minors in both Meteorology and Geology from PennWest University. She moved to Richmond in 2011 to pursue a Masters of Teaching degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating, she worked for four years at Albert Hill Middle School in Richmond. There, she became a team lead and NJHS advisor. Mrs. Owens went on to join team Chesterfield in 2017, teaching Physical Science, Life Science, and Earth and Space Science. She expanded her role working as the Science department chair, cross country assistant coach, Robotics Club sponsor, and a member of her school’s leadership team. Working with school leadership inspired Mrs. Owens to pursue an endorsement in Educational Leadership through Longwood University. She served as Dean of Students at Lloyd C. Bird High School for two years before joining the Manchester team as Assistant Principal. When not at school, Mrs Owens enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and exploring new places.

Dr. Lakesha R. McPhail, Dean of Students

Dr. Lakesha R. McPhail is a dedicated educator and visionary leader with 30 years of experience in education. A native and retiree of Eastern North Carolina, she is passionate about supporting student achievement, empowering educators, and fostering positive school communities. Dr. McPhail earned her bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Relations from East Carolina University. As a North Carolina Principal Fellows Scholar, she earned her Master of School Administration from Fayetteville State University and both her Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degrees from Nova Southeastern University.

Throughout her career, Dr. McPhail has served as a school and district-level administrator, instructional coach, and classroom teacher, remaining committed to creating learning environments where students and educators thrive. She is excited to be part of the Manchester High School community. Outside of school, family is at the heart of Dr. McPhail’s life. She treasures spending quality time with her son and fiance’, David, traveling together, and creating lasting memories with family and loved ones.

Greg Woodle, Activities Director

Mr. Woodle earned his B.A. in Social Studies from Elon University. He has been in education for 33 years, three as DSA and thirty years as a teacher. This will be his 28th year at Manchester. He is excited about being a part of another year in the Manchester Community. When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife (Laura), two sons (Gregory & Ryan) and his grandson (River).
